If you live here, care for your community. A number of residents have expressed an interest in forming
a community association because of the special interests and concerns that we have in our quarter of Clarence-Rockland.
We could look at things like neighbourhood watch, block parenting, developing communications for events, yard sales,

Cumberland Heritage
Village Museum
The museum officially opened for the season on May 14, 2006.

The Cumberland Heritage Village Museum is open Sunday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

40th Annual Maplefest (Usually the first
Saturday and Sunday, in April)
Lions' Maple Hall

Cumberland Village
Hosted by the Cumberland Lions Club, this annual gala is not to be
missed.
The Lions typically serve over 1000 meals of maple syrup, pancakes, sausages, coffee and orange juice,
consuming an amazing amount of pancake flour, orange juice, sausages, coffee and Maple syrup. No estimates are
possible on how many pancakes are served!
Since 1993, the Lions members have served over 23,000 meals. Residents from
all over the Ottawa Valley and the Outaouais attend this annual event and it
has become a tradition in many families.
Maple syrup products will be available for sale by the Cumberland Scouts and
the three area churches will be hosting a bazaar and bake sale on Saturday
morning at the United Church across from the Maple Hall. More

(From 2007)Kurt Ala-Kantti, group administrator for the 1st Cumberland Scouts says: It's time again for our annual
fundraiser for scouting in Ottawa's east end! 1st Cumberland has managed to keep its annual registration fees amongst
the lowest in the country, and this is the event that allows us to do that. But we can't do it without the support
of the local community. We NEED your SUPPORT! Please come, and bring friend! Good food, good atmosphere,
good company, and a good cause!

Eastern Ontario - L’écho d’un peuple

L'écho d'un peuple: This blockbuster
show is based on four centuries of French history in North America and in Ontario. It is held at Théâtre
Desjardins, Drouin's Centennial Farm, 1230 route 400, just northwest of
Casselman, Ontario. The production is offered in French however their Web site
is now bilingual.

NOTE: We were told that the production would be closed after
the last performance in August 2008. There appears to be some
efforts to revive the program. Stay tuned!

The show is presented every Thursday, Friday and Saturday, from July to August 19.
The bleachers can accommodate up to 1,500 spectators every night. You will live or relive an unforgettable evening! More...

The Canadian Mental Health Association, Stormont, Dundas, Glengarry-Prescott-Russell
Branch, has opened a drop-in centre in Embrun. The drop-in centre is located in the community hall of the Embrun
Sports Complex (second floor) and is open every second Tuesday from 1 pm to 3 pm. The centre is a place for adults
16 years of age and older to come and socialize, have fun and break isolation. For more information, call 1-800-493-8271.

Sarsfield Multiservice Centre
The Community of Sarsfield is developing a Multiservice Center that will offer health services, continued education,
daycare, day camp for kids and many more activities. "It up to the population to decide what service they
require and want in their community" says Project Co-ordinator Diane Latreille. For more information
call: (613) 835-1661. (They hope to have an active Web site soon. In the meantime check out the Sarsfield
web site for updating information.)
The Sarsfield Colonial Home, a long-term care facility in Sarsfield and would
benefit from a few hours of your time. Volunteers are needed for various activities, many of which can be set to
your convenience. Example: someone interested in giving the ladies of the home manicures on a weekly basis. If
you are interested, call Chantale at 835-2977.
